Project context
In 2024, as part of the construction of a new store Intermarket, a complete exterior layout has been carried out to ensure the accessibility of the site and the proper management of traffic flows.
The project covered: creation of customer parking and access routes suitable for a commercial activity generating significant traffic. Placed on a parcel requiring significant preparatory work, the site has integrated extensive demolition and earth-moving operations.
Nature of work carried out
The interventions covered all the external arrangements necessary for the proper functioning of the hypermarket:
- Creation of a guest parking lot dimensioned for high vehicle flow
- Completion of access routes on site
- Demolition work existing structures
- Earthworks and shaping Platform
- Adaptation of infrastructure traffic and commercial exploitation constraints
Studies, research and testing
Upstream and during the construction site, several studies and controls have been carried out to ensure the technical and environmental conformity of the materials used:
- Preliminary environmental assessment site (flooding areas, extended hydrography, outcropping karst...)
- Verification of site compatibility with the use of steel dairy
- Application of the procedure for the validation of serious products : leaching tests, expansion tests, supply and validation of product data sheets
These steps have enabledensure the reliability and durability of materials used in road structures.
Ecosystem, stakeholders and partners
The project is part of a developing business environment, involving close coordination between several actors:
- Office of Technical Studies
- Public works company
- Local authorities
The main issues were user safety, traffic flow management and compliance with local urban planning regulations.
Technical performance
The solutions implemented have achieved good performance levels:
- Good mechanical strength of carriageways achieved
- Adaptation of structures to the traffic constraints generated by commercial activity
- Improved traffic flow on the whole site
Environmental impacts and circular economy
This project is fully in line with a resource recovery and environmental impact reduction approach:
- Use of industrial materials from the steel industry
- Contribution to a circular economy logic
- Reduction of the overall environmental footprint construction site
- Optimizing the use of alternative materials road infrastructure
This project illustrates the Harsco Environmental, member of theAFOCO, to integrate innovative solutions for valorising industrial co-products into complex road developments. It highlights an approach combining technical performance, environmental impact management and adaptation to the needs of modern business infrastructure.
