Waste treatment platform
TERRAG FRANCE
The yard
As part of the construction of the waste treatment platform in Phalsbourg, TERRAG France provided concrete blocks for the creation of storage cells. These blocks were made from alternative materials from the glass industry and sands from a fluidized bed boiler, which were used as a substitute for natural aggregates. This approach reduces the environmental impact of building materials.
Environmental impact
From an ecological point of view, the use of these alternative materials has a major advantage: manufacturing one tonne of traditional aggregates emits about 3 kg of CO2, while 1 tonne of these alternative materials generates a zero carbon footprint. This alternative offers significant potential in terms of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
In addition to their positive environmental impact, these materials have considerable economic benefits. They are not only more environmentally friendly, but also more cost-competitive. Technically, concrete made with these materials meets all the necessary performance standards, ensuring cleanliness, strength and durability, especially for specific applications in the construction sector.
