Neolithe is an industrial start-up specialized in the design and manufacture of Fossilizers, industrial units for the treatment of non-recyclable (non-inert and non-dangerous) wastes by Accelerated Fossilization. Today the industrial start-up has 180 employees.

Located directly on the sorting platforms or centres that receive and capture waste, our Fossilizers©, which represent a surface area of about 500 m2, are capable of handling 10,000 tons of waste per year. This is a solution that actively contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by storing more carbon than it emits. This is done by means of a completely mechanical process, which does not require any heating or discharge (odor, smoke, waste water, etc.).

We mainly deal with ordinary industrial waste from the construction sector, called DIB. We plan to treat household waste within 2 years.

Granulat Anthropocite©

Mineral aggregates from the Accelerated Fossilization of Waste are called « Anthropocite© ». They can replace natural aggregates from quarries for non-structural concrete use, without technical or environmental risk.

In addition, they act as carbon sinks by preventing the degradation of biogenic materials contained in the site DIB. Anthropocite© has a negative carbon footprint, i.e. for one tonne of aggregates produced, 337 kg of equivalent CO2 is stored in aggregates. The production and use of these aggregates therefore have a positive effect on the environment.

Finally, the CSTB issued a Technical Evaluation of Products and Materials (ETPM) in order to prove the quality of non-structural concretes composed of 10% granulates of Anthropocite©.

This approval is the foundation proving the quality of the Anthropocite© and paving the way for new uses. Today, this material is used by professionals in non-structural concretes, the first essential step before the construction of structural concretes. Neolithe aims to extend the use of this new material to other types of concrete and to increasing percentages, with a short-term target of 30% substitution of traditional aggregates.

If tomorrow we were to deal with Fossilisation Accelerated all the waste emitted in France each year, we could reduce the French carbon footprint by 7% (all industries combined). This process is therefore in a position to change decarbonation in a very significant way.

The Fossilization Process Accelerated Waste

The first step, known as grinding, is to reduce waste to the scale of a very fine type of grinding (grains between 0 and 500 microns).

The second step, known as mixing, is to have this waste mill react with binders that allow the material to mineralize. At the end of this reaction, we obtain a kind of mineral modelling paste.
With regard to the binders we use in this stage, these are formulations that we have developed and produce ourselves.

The third step, known as shaping, is to press and model this mineral paste to obtain aggregates of the desired shape and density.

Together, we can create a sustainable future and promote responsible innovation.
